Kathmandu records lowest temperature of the year so far

KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley continued to drop on Tuesday, reaching 9.9 degrees Celsius.

This marks the lowest temperature recorded in the Valley this year, following a minimum of 10.5 degrees Celsius on Monday.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, as of 5:45 am, 9.9 degrees Celsius is the record.

The minimum temperature in the valley was 12.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Updates on the minimum temperatures across various locations in the country will be provided along with the Valley’s figures at 8:45 am, according to the Division.

In addition, the weather in the Kathmandu Valley is expected to be partly cloudy to mostly clear today, with no chance of rain.

On Monday, Jumla recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists define the lowest temperature within a 24-hour period as the minimum temperature for that day, while the highest temperature is referred to as the maximum temperature.

The minimum temperature is typically measured daily at 8:45 am, and the maximum at 5:45 pm.

Nepal is currently experiencing the post-monsoon season, which lasts throughout November.

Winter officially begins in December, and as the season approaches, temperatures are expected to continue to drop across the country.
