KATHMANDU: As the nation celebrates Constitution Day, Madhesh leader Rajendra Mahato staged a protest by sleeping on the streets.

On Thursday, Mahato, who chairs the newly formed National Liberation Party, and other leaders and activists gathered at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu to express their dissent.

During the protest, they burned a copy of the Constitution, voicing their concerns that it is incomplete and discriminatory.

Mahato called for a revolution against the current Constitution, asserting that it does not serve the interests of all citizens.

He previously announced intentions to lead a national liberation movement, alongside fellow activist Suman Sayami, to challenge perceived injustices, including illegal road and river standards.

They had earlier urged supporters to gather at Maitighar Mandala on October 3rd to advocate for a more inclusive Nepal and the establishment of a multi-national state.

Additionally, the Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party, led by Mahantha Thakur, joined Mahato in opposing the Constitution.
