Mahakali Highway blocked by landslides

MAHAKALI: The Darchula-Gokuleshwar-Khalanga road under the Mahakali Lokmarg has been obstructed due to landslides caused by incessant rains.

Landslides have occurred in Kathapate, Naktad, Panebaj, Airichana, and Dhamigada within Malikarjun Rural Municipality, resulting in a complete roadblock.

This closure has halted all transportation into and out of the district.

Day and night buses from Darchula to Mahendranagar and Kathmandu are stranded, and short-distance vehicles are unable to operate due to the repeated landslides.

Rajendrasinh Dhami, a supervisor from the road department, reported that since this morning, the JCB from the Baitadi Patan divisional road has been working to clear the landslides.

However, progress is slow as new landslides continue to occur.
