KATHMANDU: A parliamentary investigation special committee has uncovered that Rs 50 million was transferred from Surya Darshan Cooperative to Gorkha Media, where Rabi Lamichhane serves as the managing director.

The committee, which investigates the misuse of cooperative funds, held a meeting on Friday with regulatory bodies from provincial and local levels to discuss the state of cooperative operations.

During the meeting at Singha Durbar, officials from these regulatory bodies were present to discuss the operation of cooperatives at both the provincial and local levels.

Committee coordinator Surya Thapa reported that the discussion included cooperatives listed in Annex 2 of the committee’s mandate, such as Surya Darshan and Sano Paila.

Thapa revealed that out of 24,000 cooperatives in the local areas, 1,923 are located in Kathmandu.

Specifically, Rs 48.8 million was transferred from Surya Darshan Cooperative to Gorkha Media, with additional amounts of NPR 2 million and Rs 5 million.

Of this, Rs 2 million went directly to Gorkha Media, and Rs 5 million to GB Group of Companies.
