KATHMANDU: In the inaugural match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup cricket tournament against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nepal struck early, taking three crucial wickets during the powerplay.
Nepal, having won the toss, elected to bowl first and successfully restricted UAE to 38 runs for the loss of three wickets in the first six overs of the game.
Indu Barma and Sabnam Rai each took a wicket, while a wicket fell through a run out.
The tournament, running from July 18 to 28, features eight teams divided into two groups.
In Group ‘A’, Nepal competes with UAE, India, and Pakistan, while Group ‘B’ comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final set for July 28.
