Government forms five committees in Council of Ministers

KATHMANDU: The government has established five committees within the Council of Ministers, naming coordinators for each.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday formed the political, administration, economic infrastructure, legislation, and social committees.

According to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, the coordinators were chosen based on their areas of expertise.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakashman Singh has been appointed coordinator of the political committee, while Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will lead the economic infrastructure committee.

Minister Gurung has been named coordinator of the administration committee.

Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari will head the social committee, and Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak will oversee the legislation committee.

Additionally, Bishnu Rimal has been appointed the chief political advisor to the Prime Minister, and Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada has been named the economic advisor.

Spokesperson Gurung also announced that the cabinet meeting has approved the participation of Dr. Ganesh Prasad Pandey, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, in the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to be held in New Delhi from July 21.
