Farmers Enlisting Program: Over 1.8 million farmers enlisted

KATHMANDU: Over 1.8 million farmers have been enlisted in the Farmers Enlisting Program to date.

The government launched the program in 2077 BS to provide assistance and grants to the farmers.

According to the Information Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mahananda Joshi, they were collecting details about the farmers’ produce and the land used for cultivation among others at present.

The integrated statistics are being collected from all over the country.

A plan is in place to provide assistance and in-kind support such as fertilizers, seeds, and other facilities to farmers through digital mediums.

The Agriculture Information and Training Centre has been coordinating the program which seeks to make a network of farmers in a single platform for the State to provide services and facilities to them through a one-door policy and in the most convenient way.

Farmers would get an identity card which will be the major basis for receiving State facilities, it was shared. A mobile application (App) will be launched to provide technical support and services to farmers, it was shared.

Information about the farmers is being collected through the local government, said Information Officer Joshi, adding that the program aims to enlist at least 1.2 million farmers in upcoming fiscal year.
