ICC WC Super 8: America faces South Africa today



KATHMANDU: The ICC T-20 World Cup cricket matches of the ‘Super 8’ stage will commence from today.

The first competition of ‘Super 8’ is between South Africa and America, starting at 8:15 PM Nepali time on Wednesday.

South Africa is unbeaten in the group stage, winning all eight matches.

Emerging as the winner of Group D with four victories, South Africa is considered a strong contender for the World Cup.

South Africa’s journey to the ‘Super 8’ included a 6-wicket win over Sri Lanka, a 4-wicket win against the Netherlands, a narrow 4-run victory over Bangladesh, and a sensational 1-run win against Nepal.

America, from Group A, won two matches and shared points in one.

They defeated Canada by 7 wickets in the first match and played a super over against Pakistan in the second match, which they won.

However, the USA lost to India by 7 wickets in the third match and shared points with Ireland in the fourth.

America has reached the ‘Super 8’ as the runner-up of their group with five points.

The first clash of the ‘Super 8’ between host USA and South Africa is anticipated to be highly interesting.

Eight teams will play in the ‘Super 8’ stage. Group 1 includes India, Australia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, while Group 2 consists of South Africa, USA, West Indies, and England.

The top team from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
