Speaker Ghimire to discuss smooth functioning of parliament with party chief whips

KATHMANDU: Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire is scheduled to hold meetings with the chief whips of political parties at 10:30 AM to discuss the smooth functioning of parliament, according to the Speaker’s secretariat.

The discussions precede the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, scheduled for 11 AM.

The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has been obstructing meetings of both the lower and upper houses, demanding a parliamentary committee to investigate the involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in a cooperative fraud case.

However, with an agreement reached between the ruling and opposition parties to form the probe committee, today’s HoR meeting is anticipated to proceed without disruptions.
