BIRATNAGAR: The Koshi province assembly endorsed a resolution motion in today’s meeting, with a majority of members supporting the motion presented by Koshi Province Assembly Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista for consideration.

In accordance with Rule 70 (1) (C) of the Province Assembly Regulations, 2074 BS (first amendment), Rebatiraman Bhandari, the parliamentary party chief whip of CPN (UML), presented the resolution motion at the province assembly on Thursday.

The Speaker put forth the motion for decision using the vote division procedure, which was endorsed by 52 members of the province assembly.

Seconding the resolution motion, province assembly members Indra Bahadur Angbo, Narayan Bahadur Magar, Gombu Sherpa, Geeta Timilsina, Sapana Darjee, Leelaballav Adhikari, Kamala Darnal, Bidur Kumar Lingthep, Tilachan Pathak, and Nirmala Limbu expressed that the chief minister should either find solutions or seek a vote of confidence in the assembly.

During the discussion, Rajendra Kumar Rai, the parliamentary party leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) in Koshi province, emphasized that the chief minister should seek a vote of confidence within 30 days as per the Constitution.

Nepali Congress province assembly members Khagena Singh Hangam and Binod Rai urged the proposers to withdraw the resolution motion and propose another motion focused on the development, prosperity, and poverty alleviation in the province.

In response to the discussion, Chief Minister Karki stated that he had garnered the trust of 86 members in the province assembly and had obtained a vote of confidence through due process.

He highlighted his efforts to prevent the dissolution of the province assembly to avoid a constitutional crisis and provide a political solution.

Karki urged the proposers to withdraw the motion, citing the province government’s positive performance for the people in a short period.
