EC seeks cooperation for by-election

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has appealed for cooperation from the government and other stakeholders to ensure the upcoming by-election is conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.

Scheduled for April 27, the by-election requires concerted efforts from all parties involved.

The EC has urged the government to facilitate a conducive atmosphere for security personnel and employees.

Adequate arrangements for electricity, drinking water, transportation, health services, and communication infrastructure are essential for the smooth conduct of the election.

EC Spokesperson Shaligram Paudel emphasized these points in a press release, highlighting the commission’s proactive approach in ensuring the necessary arrangements are in place.

Additionally, the EC has reached out to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, seeking their guidance and direction to all concerned stakeholders.

The upcoming by-election on April 27 will decide the Provincial Assembly member for constituency no. 1 in Bajhang and the House of Representatives member for constituency no. 2 in Ilam district.
