NC warns parliament obstruction over probe committee absence

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada has warned that his party would obstruct the parliamentary session unless a probe committee is formed against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Speaking to reporters at the House of Representatives building premises in New Baneshwor on Tuesday, lawmaker Khatiwada expressed dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister’s response to questions regarding Home Minister Lamichhane.

“We are not satisfied with the Prime Minister’s response to our concerns. He appeared to be protective of corruption-accused Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane. He failed to clarify whether the person pointed out by the cooperative’s victim in Pokhara is another Lamichhane with a similar appearance to Home Minister Lamichhane,” Khatiwada stated.

He iterated that NC would obstruct the House provided demand the formation of a parliamentary probe committee.

“If the government fails to establish the probe Committee, we will obstruct the House starting from tomorrow,” Khatiwada added.
