KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), the leading opposition party, has demanded the immediate resignation of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane amid allegations of involvement in cooperative fraud.
During the House of Representatives (HoR) session, NC lawmaker Deepak Pandey asserted that Lamichhane’s appointment as Home Minister compromises the integrity of investigations into the fraud case.
Pandey accused Lamichhane of assuming office despite ongoing investigations by the Nepali Police and Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) into his alleged role in the fraudulent activities.
The NC’s demand for Lamichhane’s resignation reflects growing concerns over transparency and accountability within the government, as it grapples with allegations of fraud at the highest levels.
