Water Supply Minister assures of commencement of reconstruction works



KAVREPALANCHOK:  Minister for Water Supplies, Pradeep Yadav, has pledged to launch the reconstruction works in the disaster-hit areas.

In his address to a workshop on “Disaster Risk, Mitigation and Disaster Management Learning and Upcoming Action Plan” in Dhulikhel today, the Minister said the progress is on to start the reconstruction works in the disaster-affected areas by a week.

According to the Minister, a working procedure developed by the Home Ministry to this regard will be endorsed by the Cabinet by a week, paving the way for commencing the efforts.

Stating that he carried out field visits to assess the damages by the September rains on water infrastructures, he said the local levels are not in the position of restoring them and the federal ministry is required to own up its responsibility.

House of Representatives (HoR) members Gokul Prasad Baskota and Suryaman Dong, Bagamat Province Assembly members Kanchan Chandra Bade Shrestha, Ratna Dhakal and Laxman Lamsal, and local representatives present at the programme advised the government to ensure the restoration of damaged structures soon.
