KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the current government, formed through a coalition between CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, will not collapse simply because of criticism or opposition.
Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the 37th Establishment Day of Society for the Liberation of Oppressed Castes, Nepal here on Wednesday, Oli dismissed speculations about the government’s instability.
“Some people hope and wish for this government to fall. They are speaking out of turn, going too far. They did the same during the governments of Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Rabi. But, a fly’s curse doesn’t kill a bull or any other animal,” Oli remarked, targeting Maoists and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Drawing an analogy, Oli said, “When the time comes, even ants grow wings. They fly, but once high enough, a bird snatches and devours them. The same is happening with these groups. They continue to curse the government, but this administration was formed to achieve stability and prosperity.”
Oli also criticized the previous government, citing widespread corruption and political instability, which led UML and Congress to join hands.
“Corruption had crossed all limits. People started questioning why UML and Congress remained passive while others danced freely in the political arena. That’s when we decided to act and form a coalition to ensure stability, good governance, and development,” Oli explained.
The prime minister assured that the coalition would remain intact until 2084 BS, adding that the government is committed to eliminating caste-based discrimination and making necessary amendments to existing laws to address social inequalities.
