KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Tribhuvan University Chancellor KP Sharma Oli has pledged to return all properties belonging to Tribhuvan University (TU).
This commitment followed his receipt of a report from the Tribhuvan University Land and Property Search Commission.
“The land of Tribhuvan University will be brought under the name of the university itself, and anyone found guilty of embezzling it will face legal action,” PM Oli said while addressing the issue.
The commission, led by Sharada Prasad Trital, was tasked with identifying and reclaiming the university’s property.
Previously, in 2019, another commission led by Trital was formed to investigate the misuse of Lalita Niwas land, with a case currently ongoing to restore that land to government ownership.
In a social media post, PM Oli expressed his gratitude to Trital and said the government would implement the commission’s recommendations after a thorough review.
“The commission’s findings will be acted upon immediately, and additional areas that remain unexplored will also be investigated. Once finalized, the outcomes will be made public,” Oli said.
