KATHMANDU: Ishwor Pokharel, Senior Vice Chair of the CPN-UML, has emphasized the need to extend the relationship between Nepal and China to the grassroots level.
Speaking at a special program organized by the Huai’an Province government, during his visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party’s Foreign Affairs Department, Pokharel highlighted the importance of enhancing sisterly relations between the provinces and local levels of both countries to foster deeper connections among their peoples.
“There is a profound historical relationship between China and the government of Nepal, as well as between the Chinese Communist Party and the UML. It is now essential to expand these relations at the public level,” he stated.
He recalled last week’s visit by the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province to Sichuan, as well as the head of Tibet’s Nachu Province visiting the sister city of Tokha Municipality, both of which significantly strengthened bilateral ties.
Pokharel noted that history, geography, politics, religion, culture, and other historical factors are all witnesses to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Wang Zhongling, Governor of the People’s Government of Huai Province and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, expressed optimism about the bright future of China-Nepal relations and highlighted the numerous areas for cooperation.
Liu Chihong, Vice President of the university, discussed the potential for collaboration in expanding scientific education and expressed confidence in future advancements.
A 15-member delegation led by Pokharel is currently visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party’s Foreign Affairs Department.
