KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the detention of Bechan Jha in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

The order was issued by Judge Tirtha Raj KC, who ruled to keep Jha in custody.

Bechan Jha, who had been evading arrest, was apprehended on June 29 in Kanchanpur.

He is accused of acting as a mediator, facilitating meetings between brokers and high-ranking officials, including the Home Minister and the Secretary, as part of the scam involving fake Bhutanese refugees.

However, during the court hearing, Jha denied any involvement in the case.
