GULMI: Heavy rains last night triggered multiple landslides, blocking the Tamghas-Ridi and Ridi-Wamitaksar road sections, which are part of the Madan Bhandari Highway.

The landslides occurred at Goudakot and Birbas in Gulmidarbar Rural Municipality, obstructing traffic.

In addition, the Ridi-Khajryang road in Rurukshetra Rural Municipality-1 has also been blocked by a landslide at Ratamata, according to the District Police Office in Gulmi.

The situation is further exacerbated by the increased water flow in the Dahare River, which has blocked the Ridi-Rudrabeni-Wamitaksar road section in Satyavati Rural Municipality-6.

This has left both long and short-route vehicles traveling from Tamghas and Wamitaksar to Butwal and Kathmandu stranded.

Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Sharma reported that while local authorities are working to clear the roads, continuous rainfall and subsequent mudslides are hindering their efforts.
