Flood obstructs Gorkha-Aarughat road

GORKHA: The Benighat-Aarughat road in Gorkha district has been rendered impassable following flood damage to a diversion bridge over the Jadul river.

According to Narayan Shrestha, Ward Chair of Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-7, the diversion connecting Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-7 and Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-9 was washed away, halting all traffic.

The diversion bridge, constructed just last year, suffered severe damage with both its retaining walls swept away by floodwaters.

Consequently, the Benighat-Aarughat road section has been completely shut down, disrupting regular passenger services from Kathmandu to Arkhet via Benighat, Shrestha added.
