KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha highlighted the potential of the Chinese educational fair to enhance the relationship between Nepali and Chinese universities, thereby improving education quality.

Inaugurating the fair, organized by the Kathmandu-based Chinese Embassy and China Scholarship Council, DPM Shrestha noted numerous instances of Nepali students benefiting from scholarships in China, returning with specialized knowledge.

He expressed confidence that many aspiring Nepali students would gain future benefits from the fair.

“The educational fair serves as a milestone, providing crucial information about higher education in China,” Shrestha said.

He emphasized the significant role that formal visits by current and former Nepali officials have played in expanding educational, cultural, and social ties between Nepal and China.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, mentioned that about 2,500 Nepali students are currently studying in China.

He noted an increasing number of Chinese experts, university students, and Chinese language education volunteers coming to Nepal.

He added, “Cultural exchange and educational support are vital foundations of Nepal-China relations, contributing significantly to building close and friendly ties between our communities.”

Harish Chandra Sah, Chairperson of the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council, expressed optimism that the fair would foster smooth and friendly educational relations at the grassroots level. He emphasized that Nepali students stand to benefit from China’s international-standard education quality.

Deputy Secretary General of the China Scholarship Council, Jhang Junior, remarked on the opportunity to inform Nepali students, parents, and other stakeholders about Chinese education through the fair, held after a decade.
