Dahal and Oli meet amid speculations of Nepal aligning with Deuba

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), KP Sharma Oli, and Chairman of CPN-UML, held a meeting on Thursday evening at Singha Durbar.

Upon returning to Kathmandu from Jhapa, UML Chair Oli convened a meeting with PM Dahal.

The meeting reportedly followed speculations of CPN (Unified Socialist) joining forces with Nepali Congress to form an alternative alliance.

The news of Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba reaching an agreement to forge a new coalition recently emerged.

Home Minister and Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) were also present at the meeting.

Unified Socialist was expected to assert its claim to the Chief Minister post of Sudurpaschim Province, supported by Nepali Congress.

However, UML’s decision to back Dhirga Sodari averted this scenario.

Sodari has since been appointed Chief Minister of the province.
