KATHMANDU: Kamala Devi Panta, a lawmaker from the Nepali Congress, has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee under the National Assembly.
In a meeting held today at Singha Durbar, Panta was elected as the Chairperson.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered to her by the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal.
Chairperson Dahal extended congratulations and best wishes to Panta on her new role.
According to the regulations of the National Assembly, elected committee chairs must take the oath of office and secrecy before the NA Chairperson.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, Chairperson Panta assumed her responsibilities. The term of office for the Committee Chairperson is two years.
Expressing her commitment, Chairperson Panta emphasized her active role in promoting good governance and addressing crucial issues such as economic empowerment and climate change mitigation to achieve sustainable development goals.
She underscored the committee’s dedication to combatting corruption as essential for promoting good governance.
