Para Taekwondo athlete Palesha selected for Para Olympics



KATHMANDU: Para Taekwondo athlete Palesha Govardhan has been selected for Paris 2024 Paralympics Games.

The Olympics for para athletes is being held in Paris, the capital of France from 28 August to 8 September later this year.

Palesha booked a ticket to Paris after winning gold medal in the final match of the Asian Qualifiers held in Taiyang, China.

In the final, she defeated Iran’s Lella Mirzai in Taekwondo women’s 57 kg, K-44 category.

Earlier in the semi-final, she had defeated Karima Melikujieva of Uzbekistan by 18-2 points.

Palesha is now the first para athlete of Nepal to participate in the Para Olympics.

She was also the first to win a historic bronze medal in the 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province of China in 2022.
