Anti-money laundering bill referred to legislation committee

KATHMANDU: Today’s session of the National Assembly has forwarded the Bill aimed at amending certain Acts pertaining to the prevention of money laundering and the enhancement of the business environment, 2079 BS, to the pertinent committee for detailed clause-wise deliberations.

Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung proposed that the bill undergo clause-wise discussions in the Legislation Management Committee, a suggestion unanimously endorsed by the Upper House.

Additionally, Maya Prasad Sharma, Chairperson of the Delegated Management and Government Assurance Committee, presented the committee’s annual report for the year 2079-80 during the session.

Moreover, Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa (Parbati), Chairperson of the National Concern and Coordination Committee, tabled a study report on the tier-wise inter-relationship and coordination of the committee.

Likewise, Jayantidevi Rai, Chairperson of the Legislation Management Committee, submitted the committee’s report on the ‘Bill on Legislation, 2080’.

The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene for its next meeting on February 23.
