CPN-UML calls for resignation of Minister Jwala

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has demanded the resignation of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala.

The call for resignation comes after an investigation commission, formed to inquire into the Balkumari incident resulting in the loss of two youths’ lives, held Minister Jwala accountable.

During the parliamentary session, Mahesh Bartaula, the whip of CPN-UML, demanded Minister Jwala’s resignation and urged for stringent actions against him.

Similarly, Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), criticized the government’s failure to uphold moral standards despite the commission’s findings attributing responsibility to Minister Jwala for the tragic Balkumari incident.

Following the commencement of the meeting, lawmakers from CPN-UML and RSP staged a protest in connection with the matter.
