Doctors working in Jajarkot Hospital to be given an additional allowance of one lakh rupees per month

JAJARKOT: The “Nepal Med Nepal” is set to provide an extra monthly allowance of one lakh to doctors serving in the earthquake-affected Jajarkot District Hospital.

This additional stipend aims to incentivize medical professionals and address the shortage of doctors in the region.

The Karnali Province government had earlier issued a notice to appoint ninth-level specialists, including Consultant General Physicians, Surgeons, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Pediatricians, Orthopedic Surgeons, and Anesthesiologists, under a service contract for Jajarkot Hospital.

The Hospital Development Committee of Jajarkot confirmed that doctors entering into service contracts would receive the one lakh allowance, courtesy of the Nepal Med Nepal.

Nepal Med, a German organization dedicated to supporting Nepal’s health sector, stepped in to collaborate with Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Dr. Toshima Karki.

Dr. Karki, who has firsthand experience in Jajarkot during the earthquake, spent 35 days providing medical assistance.

Recognizing the pressing need for more doctors in the hospital, she initiated the collaboration with Nepal Med to secure the additional allowance for medical professionals choosing to work in Jajarkot.
