KATHMANDU: The CPN-Unified Socialist, led by Madhav Kumar Nepal, has decided to contest all upcoming elections independently.

A Standing Committee meeting held in Kathmandu concluded that candidates with the party’s “Pen” election symbol will compete alone, according to Vice Chair and spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada.

The meeting also decided to focus on strengthening the party rather than seeking unification with others.

To connect with the people, the party will launch a public struggle campaign.

The meeting further formed a 24-member Central Secretariat comprising the Chair, Honorary Leader, Senior Leader, Senior Vice Chair, Vice Chairs, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretaries, and Secretaries.

Additionally, a five-member Central Office has been established, and the party’s future work plan has been approved with necessary amendments.

Suggestions regarding the work division will be finalized within two days, informed Khatiwada.

Khatiwada revealed that discussions are ongoing to bring Bamdev Gautam into the Unified Socialist party, stating that Gautam has shown a positive response.

Necessary processes for this are underway.
