Rabi Lamichhane’s wife challenges media claims, demands proof of loan from cooperatives

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Poudel, has challenged media reports alleging that her husband took a loan from a cooperative, demanding proof to substantiate the claims.

Poudel questioned the authenticity of the reports, claiming that no evidence has been provided so far to prove that Lamichhane took a loan from a cooperative.

She expressed frustration with the media for creating unnecessary publicity, especially during Lamichhane’s time in police custody in Pokhara.

“I am still waiting for proof that Rabi took a loan from a cooperative,” Poudel wrote on Facebook, adding that the media had sensationalized the issue without providing solid evidence.

She also referred to a lighthearted conversation with her father, Uddhav Poudel, about the fluctuating figures reported in the media regarding the alleged loan amount.

“My father asked me, laughing, ‘How much do you really have? Some media say Rs 150 million, others say Rs 250 million, and some say Rs 500 million. Give me a little too,'” she wrote. “I responded with a laugh, ‘I’m still paying installments for the house I bought for Rs 40 million with that money.'”

Poudel also criticized the media for being insensitive to the gravity of issues like embezzlement in cooperative savings, calling for more responsible journalism.
