Floods incur loss worth over Rs 242 million in Harinagar



SUNSARI: The recent floods have caused a loss and damage worth amounting to Rs 242.7 million in Harinagar rural municipality.

According to the District Administration Office of Sunsari, the incessant rain-triggered disaster took a toll on different sectors such as education, health, physical infrastructure and agriculture in Harinagar.

As informed, the floods partially damaged seven schools, six bridges and roads, and destroyed crops cultivated in 900 bighas of land.

Further, the calamitous incident incurred partial damage of the crops cultivated in 1,600 bighas land.

Similarly, 40 bighas of land have been completely damaged and 55 bighas of land partially damaged.

Three health posts collapsed and 25 cattle were killed, according to the office.

Chief District Officer Ram Chandra Tiwari said maintenance of the physical structures damaged by the floods has begun.
