KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has praised the Ministry of Finance’s decision to establish a high-level Economic Reform Commission.

In a press statement issued today, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal expressed the Federation’s positive reception of the move.

“The FNCCI had been advocating for a high-level commission to coordinate efforts for economic reforms. I would like to express my gratitude to the government for prioritizing the Federation’s proposal,” Dhakal stated.

The FNCCI, as the umbrella organization of Nepal’s private sector, had previously submitted a proposal emphasizing the need for such a commission to revitalize the national economy and achieve sustainable economic development.

The Federation highlighted the necessity of addressing the lack of coordination among economic sectors and improving the private sector’s access to policymaking.

The FNCCI also thanked the Ministry of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel for making the formation of the Economic Reform Commission a priority, with plans to implement action within 100 days.

The Federation further proposed that the Commission operate under a framework of austerity, as outlined in their statement.
