NEPSE soars by 54 points, exceeds 12 billion in turnover



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a significant surge on Wednesday, with the index rising by 54 points.

This increase reflects a broader trend of growth, as trading volumes also saw a substantial boost, exceeding Rs 12 billion in a single day.

The NEPSE index climbed by 2.33 percent, reaching 2364.63 points.

On Wednesday, shares worth Rs 12.059 billion were traded, with 32,095,937 shares changing hands.

Out of 306 companies whose shares were traded today, the share prices of 204 companies rose, while 32 companies saw a decline in their share prices.

The share prices of the six companies remained unchanged.

The non-life insurance sector experienced a notable surge, with its index climbing by 382.41 points to reach 11,800.44 points.

Additionally, the hotel and tourism sector increased by 320.27 points to 6,081.90 points, the life insurance sector rose by 242.26 points to 11,328.71 points, the manufacturing sector increased by 207.01 points to 7,085.95 points, and the trading sector climbed by 229.07 points to 3,365.71 points.

All 13 sectors saw gains today, with the mutual fund sector experiencing the smallest increase.

However, all other sectors posted gains of over 1 percent.

Notably, the share prices of six companies increased by more than 9 percent, with four companies hitting the positive circuit limit.
