Bagmati CM Jamkattel to seek vote of confidence on July 21

HETAUDA: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamakattel, is set to seek a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly on July 21.

Chief Minister Jamakattel requested a vote of confidence from the State Assembly Secretariat in a letter submitted recently.

Ratna Prasad Dhakal, chief whip of the Maoist Center, stated that Chief Minister Jamakattel decided to proceed with the confidence vote following consultations with leaders of coalition parties.

Following the recent change in the federal government, five ministers from the CPN-UML resigned from the provincial government, leaving the government in a minority position.

Subsequently, the UML forged a new coalition with the Nepali Congress after ending its alliance with the Maoist Center, which has reshaped the political landscape in the province.

Speaker Bhuwan Pathak said that the state assembly meeting will convene on July 21 at 1 pm to conduct the vote of confidence for Chief Minister Jamakattel.

Jamakattel, representing the Maoist Center, assumed the role of Chief Minister with support from CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and United Socialist Party.
