Lalitpur Court convicts man for sexual assault and property seizure



KATHMANDU: The Lalitpur District Court has handed down a 10-year prison sentence and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on Surjaman Mali for human trafficking and property seizure.

District Court Judge Rita Kumari Bakhrel convicted Mali for continuous rape and seizing property from a woman in Lalitpur.

The court ordered Mali to compensate the victim with Rs. 50,000.

Mali had sexually exploited the woman and captured her property urging her to pay him Rs 500,000 he lent her as debt.

In the same case, Umesh Sahi has been convicted as abettor and sentenced to one month in prison and a fine of Rs. 2,000 for sexually assaulting the victim.
