TRC Bill will not be used for political gain, will be concluded soon: Mahesh Bartaula

KATHMANDU: Chief Whip of CPN-UML, Mahesh Bartaula, emphasized that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) bill should not be used for political maneuvering.

Addressing a program organized by the Disappeared Warriors’ Families Society, Bartaula stated that the TRC bill should be brought to the House and concluded swiftly to resolve all issues related to the armed conflict.

“We must bring the guilty to justice through the investigation of truth and ensure justice for the victims. We need to ensure that new conflicts do not arise by addressing the issues of the past conflict. We have no room for mistakes now. All political parties must take responsibility and advance the TRC bill currently in the committee. The TRC bill should not be used as a tool for political gain,” he said.

Bartaula also mentioned that the Prime Minister is actively working on the TRC bill and is finally reaching a consensus within the committee.
