Kathmandu Valley receiving rain since 2 am

Maximum rainfall recorded in Budhanilkantha Municipality

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley has been receiving rain since 2 am, with the maximum rainfall recorded in Budhanilkantha Municipality.

According to meteorologist Raju Pradhanang of the Weather Forecast Division, it is currently raining lightly in the Kathmandu Valley, following a period of heavier rain since the afternoon.

“Now it is raining lightly,” Pradhanang stated, “It has rained in most places of Kathmandu Valley.”

The Division has reported that the maximum rainfall has been recorded in Budhanilkantha, with a measurement of 44.8 mm. This is classified as nearly heavy rainfall, as 50 mm is considered heavy rain.

According to the Division, Monday’s rainfall in Kathmandu is not due to the monsoon but is a result of a system developed by the local wind.

Despite a potential brief clearing of the weather, the Division has said that Kathmandu will witness rainfall again in the afternoon.
