SC directs implementation of employment plan for sidewalk vendors



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the management of street vendors in Kathmandu Metropolitan City to implement employment and alternative measures for employment.

The division bench of Justices Sharanga Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana issued the verdict, on Friday, setting a 15-day deadline to formulate a plan and submit it to the apex court via the Office of the Attorney General.

The apex court has instructed the government and Kathmandu Metropolitan City, among others, to enforce its order issued on May 7, 2023.
