Parliament meeting delayed after opposition seeks time to address assembly

KATHMANDU: The parliament meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. this morning has been delayed after the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, demanded time to address the assembly.

The meeting, initially set for Thursday afternoon, was rescheduled for 11 a.m. Friday amidst chaos and scuffles between ruling and opposition parties.

Currently, members of both ruling and opposition parties are in discussion.

During Thursday’s meeting, Nepali Congress picketed the rostrum as Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire initiated the session.

Tensions escalated after Speaker Ghimire granted time to Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, leading to a scuffle between lawmakers from both sides.
