HoR meeting taking place today

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) under the Federal Parliament is taking place today.

The meeting was adjourned until 11 am today after the opposition Nepali Congress disrupted proceedings on Thursday.

Tensions rose when Speaker Devraj Ghimire continued the session despite objections from the Nepali Congress.

Sources close to the Nepali Congress have indicated that they will continue to obstruct the Parliament.

During yesterday’s session, a confrontation erupted between MPs from the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.

The conflict began after a dispute between UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Congress Vice-President Dhanraj Gurung.

The Nepali Congress has been obstructing Parliament, demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the cooperative fraud case.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire asked Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to speak, but the opposition blocked him.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister has been insisting on his right to address Parliament.

As parties remain deadlocked over the dispute, the situation in Parliament is becoming increasingly contentious.
