KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today issued a directive to expedite the police adjustment process without delay.

Expressing concern over the hindrances caused by the absence of federal laws and the incomplete police adjustment process in a meeting held at Baluwatar this morning, PM Dahal urged the concerned agencies to take the matter seriously.

He emphasized the challenges faced by provinces in carrying out their responsibilities in the absence of a comprehensive legal framework.

Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, along with Federal Ministers, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, Home Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai, Inspector General of Nepal Police Basanta Kunwar, and other Home Ministry officials were present during the discussion.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal expressed dissatisfaction with the slow implementation of federalism, highlighting its direct impact on the provinces.

He pointed out that the delay not only hampers the work of provincial chief ministers and governments but also exposes federalism to attacks by anti-federalists.

Prime Minister Dahal remarked, “The provincial chief ministers and governments are facing difficulties, and anti-federal forces are exploiting this situation to undermine federalism,” he said.

“Therefore, in accordance with the law, I instruct the completion of the adjustment process within the next 15 days,” he said.

He emphasized that despite the promulgation of the Provincial Police Operation and Coordination Act 2076, the adjustment process had not progressed as expected.

The directive aims to accelerate the implementation of necessary measures within the specified timeframe.
