KATHMANDU: Ministry of Drinking Water, in response to concerns, has affirmed that the Melamchi water supply, redistributed in Kathmandu since January 15, meets the purification standards set by the World Health Organization.

An appeal issued by the Ministry reassured consumers that Melamchi’s water undergoes thorough treatment and purification processes before being distributed.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda inaugurated the redistribution of Melamchi water from Singha Durbar on Monday.

The government’s ambitious target is to provide 17 million liters of water to Kathmandu daily through the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring the quality of Melamchi water and urged consumers not to harbor doubts about its purity.

The treatment center of the Melamchi water supply project adheres to the stringent standards outlined by the World Health Organization, as highlighted in the ministry’s appeal.

The Ministry has also cautioned against giving credence to external rumors and assured that the Melamchi water supply project is dedicated to providing safe and purified drinking water to the residents of Kathmandu.
