“Cooperative sector plagued by multitude of fakes”

KATHMANDU: Surya Thapa, Chairman of the Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee on the misappropriation of cooperative society savings, has revealed that cooperative fraud extends to numerous aspects of the sector.

According to Thapa, issues of deception permeate everything from marriages and shareholding to debtors and share members.

During his report presentation at the House of Representatives, Thapa emphasized that resolving these problems will require a collaborative effort from all parties involved.

He stated, “The cooperative sector is plagued by a multitude of fakes. Marriages, property sharings, and even debts are fabricated. Audit reports and working systems are falsified. General meetings and reports are also manipulated. Share members and debtors, including public figures, have been falsely implicated.”

Thapa also noted that there is a consensus among all parties on the need to address and resolve these issues within the cooperative sector.
