KATHMANDU: The final report of the parliamentary committee investigating cooperative fraud is being submitted to Parliament, with all seven members having signed it.
The report was expected to be finalized yesterday and was ready for signing early this morning.
Earlier, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) member Shishir Khanal contended that there was no basis for recommending action against Rabi Lamichhane regarding the cooperative embezzlement.
While other committee members agreed that GB Rai’s involvement was limited to transferring the cooperative’s funds to Gorkha Media, they pointed out that Rabi Lamichhane, as Managing Director, used these funds for various administrative purposes, including employee salaries.
Two Nepali Congress representatives pushed for action against Rabi Lamichhane for utilizing the cooperative’s funds for media-related expenses, which led to a challenging negotiation.
Despite the disagreements, the committee members ultimately resolved their differences and signed the report.
