Parliamentary Hearing Committee to decide on proposed ambassadors on Sept. 18

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee has been scheduled for September 18 to make a decision on the proposed ambassadors.

According to committee member Ishwari Ghartimagar, the meeting will take place at Singha Durbar at 11 o’clock on Wednesday.

Originally, the committee was set to make a final decision on Sunday after hearing the proposed 17 ambassadors.

However, due to a House of Representatives meeting, the Committee’s session was postponed.

Following the hearing, the Committee engaged in discussions with Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba.

Concerns were raised about the inclusiveness of the ambassador recommendations.

Additionally, the Committee consulted with legal experts regarding complaints about several proposed ambassadors.

Complaints have been lodged against Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina for Malaysia, Shankar Prasad Sharma for India, Dhan Prasad Pandit for Israel, and Kapil Shrestha for South Africa.

As of now, the committee members have yet to reach a conclusion regarding the ambassadors facing complaints.
