Cabinet Decision: Govt approves Foreign Minister’s India visit and international loans



KATHMANDU: The Cabinet meeting held on August 15 has approved several key decisions.

Among the highlights:

India Visit: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana, is set to embark on a five-day visit to India starting August 18.

This visit will involve a delegation headed by Rana.

International Loan: The government has agreed to accept a concessional loan of $150 million from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.

A team led by the Joint Secretary of the Finance Ministry will finalize the financial agreement and program document for this loan.

Sister City Agreement: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has been granted permission to establish a sister city relationship with Ulan-Ude in Russia.

Foreign Employment Agencies: The government has removed obstacles affecting the renewal of foreign employment agencies that failed to send at least 100 Nepalis for foreign employment annually for the fiscal years 2022/23 and 2023/24.

International Meetings:

A delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will participate in the Ninth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in Uzbekistan from September 9.

Office-bearers of the Public Service Commission have been given permission to attend capacity-building programs in London from September 21 to October 1.

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, will participate in the Eighth International Dharma Dharma Conference in India from August 21-25.

Sports Awards:

The government will award Rs 300,000 each to 14 Nepali players who participated in the Kava Women’s Volleyball League 2024.

Additional awards include Rs 200,000 for the main coach, Rs 100,000 for the manager, and Rs 120,000 each for the assistant coach and physio.

Administrative Changes: On the proposal of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, 59 employees, including Non-Gazetted First Class officers and joint-secretaries, have been transferred and reassigned to different bodies.

Judicial Appointment: Judge Sudarshan Raj Pandey of the High Court Patan has been appointed as the legal member and Chairman of the Revenue Tribunal Office in Pokhara.
