KATHMANDU: The Socialist Front convened a meeting in Aloknagar, Kathmandu, signaling a renewed push for influence in Nepalese politics.

The meeting took place at the office of the CPN-Unified Socialist, with prominent leaders in attendance.

Among them were Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center; Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Socialist; Mahendra Ray Yadav, Chairman of the Nepal Samajbadi Party; and Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party.

Currently, Biplav holds the chairmanship of the Socialist Front.

The Janata Samajwadi Party, led by Upendra Yadav, is also part of the Front, although Yadav was absent from the meeting.

The gathering of the Front comes in the wake of the Maoist Centre’s ousting from the government by the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress alliance.

The Front is expected to discuss strategies for asserting its position and influence in the current political landscape.
