KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, has stated that her top priority is to implement a new education act.

Upon assuming office at Singha Durbar, Minister Bhattarai announced that the bill, currently under discussion in the parliament, would be advanced soon.

Her first decision focused on enforcing a nutrition development program in schools based on local needs.

Additionally, Minister Bhattarai decided to form a committee, coordinated by a joint secretary, to ensure the effective enforcement of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

She acknowledged the lack of quality education in community schools, emphasizing her responsibility to restore their appeal.

Furthermore, she stressed the importance of adhering to the educational calendar in universities and addressing the issue of retaining students within the country.

“It’s time for universities to focus on keeping their graduates in the country, and I will work devotedly towards this goal,” she added.
