Monsoon influence: Heavy rain expected today

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure system located near to the southern part.

According to the Department, light to moderate rain is occurring in parts of Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and in a few places in Koshi Provinces.

This afternoon, the weather will be partly to mostly cloudy across the country with chances of heavy rainfall in Bagmati, Gandaki, and one or two places in the Sudurpacshim Province.

Tonight, the weather will remain partly to mostly cloudy nationwide.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with lightning in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places in other provinces.

Due to the possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, the Department has advised people to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks of disasters such as flash floods, floods, landslides, and erosion that may occur in those areas.
