KATHMANDU: Political parties have failed to reach an agreement to break the current parliamentary impasse.

The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, is set to obstruct the parliament meeting on Thursday.

The lower house of parliament is scheduled to convene shortly.

The Nepali Congress remains firm in its decision to allow the parliament session to proceed only if the government forms a parliamentary committee to investigate the involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the cooperative fraud case.

Due to the failure to reach an agreement, the meeting, initially scheduled for 11 am today, has been rescheduled for 4 pm.
