KATHMANDU: Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has taken a proactive measure in overseeing operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane inspected various crucial areas within the airport premises, including departure and arrival halls, boarding counters, immigration checkpoints, security offices, customs areas, and baggage management zones.
During his visit, Minister Lamichhane engaged with key personnel such as the airport security chief, immigration officials, and civil aviation authorities.
Discussions revolved around staffing, operational protocols, and challenges faced by these departments.
Expressing deep concern over passenger grievances, security protocols, and the imperative to modernize immigration procedures, Minister Lamichhane underscored the importance of adopting technology for streamlined processes.
He also highlighted the urgency of addressing traffic congestion caused by farewell gatherings.
Additionally, Minister Lamichhane advocated for enhancing the aesthetics of the arrival and departure halls, emphasizing the airport’s evolution into a technologically advanced hub.
He pledged support for initiatives aimed at achieving this vision, ensuring Tribhuvan International Airport remains at the forefront of innovation and efficiency.
